Williams Sonoma, in partnership with Le Creuset, announced its first collaboration with The Walt Disney Studios. The iconic kitchenware shop is debuting an exclusive Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Soup Pot by Le Creuset to coincide with the release of the star-studded, live-action adaptation of the 1991 Disney classic.

A big fan of Le Creuset and Williams Sonoma, special announcements like this are fun to share with readers. I own several pieces of Le Creuset – panini pan, fondue pot, wine opener set, a couple of ovens, gratin dishes, as well as several silicone spatulas and prep bowls – and there’s nary a week that goes by where this iconic brand isn’t helping me cook or bake.

While I am a traditionalist when it comes to kitchen tools, commemorative or themed pieces can turn a simple cooking pot into something of lasting value. For food loving fans of the animated movies, and soon to be live action motion picture, this limited edition blue-enameled cast iron soup pot would be the perfect gift. It is decorated with the signature Beauty and the Beast rose with an oversized gold knob bearing the inscription, “Be Our Guest.”

There are a limited quantity of five hundred pots available for purchase at williams-sonoma.com, lecreuset.com and Le Creuset Signature Stores – though I suspect if popular demand is high enough, more might be made available.

“Disney is an iconic brand that brings nostalgia and delight to people of all ages,” said Janet Hayes, President of Williams Sonoma. “In partnership with Le Creuset, Williams Sonoma is pleased to offer this special edition pot to those who loved the original film and the next generation who gets to experience this legendary story for the first time. We are also thrilled to welcome Disney fans into our stores for one-of-a-kind experiences.”

Faye Gooding, CEO of Le Creuset America commented, “Beauty and the Beast is an all-time classic and we’re proud to support this live-action adaptation with our exclusive ‘Be Our Guest’ soup pot. At Le Creuset, we strive to inspire and empower people everywhere to make joy through cooking and how better to accomplish this than with this magical collaboration with Disney and our great partners at Williams Sonoma.”

Now through March 4th, Williams Sonoma stores across the United States will host Beauty and the Beast events, including:

+ Beauty and the Beast Junior Chef Cooking Class – Saturday, March 4: All Williams Sonoma stores nationwide will host a Beauty and the Beast themed Junior Chef class with movie-inspired kid friendly recipes created in collaboration with Le Creuset.

As mentioned, I have austere taste in housewares, but I can see the “beauty” of this offer. Le Creuset is the type of cookware that can be passed down from generation to generation, but what makes us keep kitchen tools from year to year is the value we place on it. If parents were to buy this special pan, not only would the family get good use from it now, but the soup pot could be given to the young Beauty and the Beast fan when he/she heads off to school or out on their own. And when it comes time for them to pass something along to their kids, the story becomes “…this is the pot grandma bought for me when I was your age.”

Who’da thunk it, ol’ Kitchenboy getting all sentimental.
